All BABILONIA's students can participate to the Lessons on Cinema and the Cinema Campus and Master Classes organized by Taormina Film festival during

Taormina Film Festival in June and will be able to meet with film directors, actors & actresses and cinema professors.

Cinema of the Mediterranean Through the Italian Lens explores the rich, diverse Mediterranean region by analyzing the similarities and differences amongst the many cultures represented. Focus is on the people, history, economics, languages and politics of the region as seen through the Italian perspective. Course topics covered include: Reunification, World War II, the image and role of women, morality and the Church, the Mafia, and the delicate balance of multiculturalism in the South.
Students enrolled in this course will enjoy the unique opportunity of experiencing Taormina's Annual International Film Festival firsthand. Included in the cost of the course, students will receive passes which entitle them entrance to film viewings, lectures, and workshops led by the directors, producers, critics and actors from the films featured in the festival. The course is taught in English; films have English subtitles. Festival films are shown in the 2000+ year old Greek Theater; lectures are held in the historical Palazzo Corvaia. Earphones are provided with synchronous translations of the lectures, seminars and workshops. This course may meet the requirements for elective course credit in Literature, Cinema, Comparative Literature, Women's Studies, Mediterranean Studies, Multicultural Studies or Humanities. No prerequisite.
