Sicily boasts two Nobel Prize in Literature recipients and through the centuries has attracted significant numbers of world renowned writers. The Sicilian Writers in the Italian Literature from Pirandello to Camilleri course can be taken in either English or Italian and is offered in both long (semester and quarter programs) and short term (2 to 8 week) programs. Course is also available for graduate credits through Auburn University.

Sicily boasts two Nobel Prize in Literature recipients and through the centuries has attracted significant numbers of world renowned writers. Sicilian Writers in the Italian Literature explores chronologically the literature produced by Sicilian authors representing the rich cultures which have influenced Sicily along with works written by renowned international authors who spent time in Sicily inspired by the island and its unique features. These authors are: Pirandello, Verga, Quasimodo, Camilleri, Sciascia, Tomasi di Lampedusa, Vittorini, De Roberto, Capuana, Consolo, Bufalino, Fava.
