Based on the four pillars, or A’s – abbigliamento (fashion), agroalimentare (foodways), arredamento (furniture/design), automotive (machinery) along with an added fifth, artiginale (artisan), MADE IN ITALY – Sicilian Style examines the crossroads of the five As in their relationship to business, marketing, economics, and advertising. As such, the course introduces students to various brands and products that represent Italy’s genius in design both domestically and internationally. Basic aspects of marketing, product design, and advertising will be explored through case studies and on-site lectures with a focus on Sicily.
