Graduate courses in Italian language and Italian culture in Italy, Sicily
Graduate students and teachers can earn up to 9 graduate credits through Auburn University for intensive immersion language courses and/or intensive culture courses.
Language courses are available year round.
Students with previous Italian language study can begin their studies on any Monday. Students with no previous Italian language study must enroll on specific Mondays.
Culture course offered Summer 2010:
LIT 431 Mysteries of Sicily: Reading to uncover myths, murders, and Montalbano (offered in English and in Italian)
This course presents an overview of ancient myths, investigates murders for passion, such as the Baronessa di Carini and other unfortunate stories and explores the writings of Sciascia and Camilleri (Montalbano’s cases).
Program includes:
Orientation in Taormina
Intensive Immersion language study (maximum 10 students) or Intensive culture course study
Accommodations - single room in shared student apartment (Saturday to Saturday)

Guided Historical Walking Tour of Taormina
Weekly seminars in Italian culture, history, literature or art (in Italian).
Weekly Italian film socials - viewing (subtitles in Italian) and discussion in Italian
Weekly social activity (minimum one scheduled per week)

Students can directly transfer academic credits or earn up to 9 Graduate credits through Auburn University. Auburn University application, tuition, and insurance fee - $900.
A limited number of independent studio apartments are available. Supplemental cost: 20 Euro per day.
Optional airport pickup and dropoff – 150 Euro.
