Accommodations for Study Abroad in Sicily, Italy students

Center for Italian Studies - Babilonia school, Taormina - Sicily

The host family experience for Study Abroad in Italy, Sicily students expands the language and culture learning through dinnertime conversations and casual exchanges within the homes. Many families host more than one Babilonia student so students also interact with international Babilonia students within the host family homes. Through host families students are immersed in the local rhythm of life and family activities. As in the U.S. families vary; individual Babilonia host families include moms with children, widows, "empty nest" couples, etc., but each shares a passion for sharing the Italian culture with the Study Abroad in Italy, Sicily students hosted.

Study Abroad in Italy, Sicily summer short term students are generally placed in shared student apartments. The bedroom is single and the kitchen and bathroom are shared. Semester and Quarter Term Program Study Abroad in Italy students can select a shared apartment option if there is a specific need which a host family cannot meet. Since Italian language acquisition and cultural immersion are an integral part of the Babilonia Study Abroad in Italy, Sicily programs the preferred placement for undergraduate students studying for a semester or quarter term  program is with a host family.

In Italy "pensione" are similar to a "bed and breakfast". Short term Summer Study Abroad in Italy, Sicily students may be placed in pensione if a shared apartment is not available. There are several pensione in Taormina where students are placed. Some pensione offer a pool and/or the option of air conditioning; some are small and family run, others are larger with more guests. All pensione are within a 20 minute walk to Babilonia - Center for Italian Language and Culture. Each provides a daily breakfast for students which also varies from the typical Italian breakfast of coffee and toast or pastry, to a typical U.S. breakfast with coffee, juice, toast, yogurt, etc.

Accommodation placement for students is confirmed upon receipt of a completed application and full payment for Study Abroad in Italy, Sicily Program.
