ACADEMIC CREDITS FOR INDEPENDENT ITALIAN STUDIES IN ITALY

Since each university has its own regimen of determining numbers of credits earned for courses taken, students registering to earn academic credit at their universities for their independent study abroad Italian language and culture courses taken at Babilonia – Center for Italian Language and Culture are advised to follow the following procedures:

● Determine courses in which you would like to enroll
● Contact your academic advisor for course approval
● Send the email address and mailing address of your academic advisor to Babilonia's Study Abroad Academic Advisor studyabroad@studiareitaliano.com
● Identify courses for which you will be earning academic credits
● When registering for your study abroad Italian language and culture classes at Babilonia – Center for Italian Language and Culture you will have to complete a Transcript Request Form
● Upon arrival at Babilonia - Center for Italian Language and Culture, a 2 hour comprehensive written and oral placement exam is administered (on the first day of study abroad programs) to ensure that each student is placed in the appropriate level of language study. Our six levels of Italian language study are divided in accordance with the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Final grades follow the U.S. system of letter grades and are based on a 4-point scale. Course grades are based on a combination of attendance and participation, written assignments and a final exam.

Upon completion of your Italian language course, an Official Transcript will be sent to the Registrar’s Office or Study Abroad Office whichever is identified on the Transcript Request Form.
